Super Deluxe

Director Thiagarajan Kumararaja's Super Delux is a  gem, if you haven't Netflixed yet..i strongly recommend you put it on your wish list. Although completely unrelated, it reminded me of Crash on the treatment, the way four stories are weaved and criss cross each other on a single day.

What a beautiful flick, Just loved the rebelious narrative. The story doesn't conform to norms,  busts hypocrisy and taboo's, explores freedom, questions belief and confronts so called dysfunctionalities.

Everything about the movie but specifically the story, performances( its loaded with the best, Aswanth, Vijay, Ramya, Fahaadh)  screenplay, direction are just plain awesome. Wonder why Gully Boy over Super Delux at Oscars.

A clip from the story that touched me the most, the story of a gender dysphoric father/son relationship. Never seen such a beautiful portrayal of love, anguish, pain, acceptance that's written with such maturity of a subject that's complicated. And the conversations between them is ❤ at 24 carat. Vijay Serhupathi and Ashwanth - my bow🙌

Thanks Nikhil for this reco...  you made my year 😊

Kapoor & Sons

Kapoor and Sons is Unadulterated dysfunctional spontaneity at its best... rarely I have seen movies that commercialize socially discomforting subjects so well. Most of the time, the production house would sugar coat and dilute subjects fearing consumer backlash. . However,  Shakun Batra picks up speed right from the word go and kept it's grip to the end. The ensemble is stellar - the writing is kick ass, direction is spot on, music compliments .. two thumbs up

Invictus

Invictus is brilliant -- what an amazing peek into Nelson Mandela's mind... "one team, one nation" as a theme was his push to use Rugby as a nation binder which beautifully worked for him. Invictus gives you an lovely insight into Madiba's mind on how he so wanted coxistence post the apartheid era. Loved this Clint Eastwood offer.. one of my all time favourite directors. If you haven't seen this, you must inspire yourself.

Let me leave you with the poem that gave him the courage for the 27 years he was behind the bars....

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

- William Ernest Henley
